Who these terms are for

Three kinds of people use Half Court. District and club staff, who run rosters, paperwork, and payments. Parents and guardians, who see and complete what their child needs. And athletes, sometimes with a parent beside them, who raise money for their team from a page of their own. Using any of it, signed in or through a link we sent you, means you agree to these terms.

Districts and clubs sign an agreement with us before their staff get accounts. That agreement, and any data privacy agreement under it, sits on top of this page. Where they conflict, the district's agreement wins.

Your account

There is no public sign-up. A district or club names its staff, and parents get in through a link sent to the email their school has on file. Signing in sends a single-use link. There is no password unless you set one.

Your account is yours. Do not share it, and tell us or your district if you think someone else has used it. What happens under your login is treated as done by you.

Contacts you add, and the messages we send for you

Half Court sends messages so you do not have to. A reminder that a physical is expiring. A link to pay a team fee. An athlete's ask to a grandparent. The link that signs you in. We send them by email and by text message, SMS or MMS, and every one of them goes out in your name or your organization's name.

The people who receive those messages come from you. A district loads guardian contacts from its own records. A coach enters a parent's number. An athlete types in the neighbors and relatives they want to ask. When you add someone, you are telling us two things: that you have a real relationship with them, and that they agreed to be contacted this way, by phone or by email, about this. For a district, that is the agreement a family gives the school when they hand over a number to be reached about their child. For an athlete, it is the grandparent, the neighbor, the family friend who knows you and would want to hear from you.

Do not add anyone else. Not a list you bought, not a directory you scraped, not a number you found. If a message we sent for you reaches someone who never agreed to it, that is on you, not on us, and you cover whatever comes of it. We will show the record of what was sent and when, and we will honor the opt-out.

What we do on our side:

• Every text says who it is from and how to stop.
• Stopping is one word. Reply STOP to any text and the texts stop, after one reply confirming it. Reply START to hear from us again. Every email carries an unsubscribe link. Anyone can also write to us and we will do it for them, though STOP is faster.
• HELP gets help. Reply HELP to any text, or write to support@halfcourt.team.
• An opt-out is honored everywhere. A number that replied STOP to one school hears nothing from any school, or from any athlete, until it says START.
• We keep the record. Every message we send and every opt-out we receive is on file, with the time.
• We send only what the product is for. No marketing, no offers, nothing from third parties. We never sell or share the contacts you add.
• Message and data rates may apply. How often you hear from us depends on what you are part of. An athlete's fundraiser sends each person at most three messages. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Texts are never a condition. Nobody has to agree to texts to pay a fee, make a gift, or take part.
• Numbers change hands. If a number you added is no longer that person's, fix it or remove it.

You are also responsible for what a message says when you write or edit it. Keep it about the team.

Text messages

Schools and clubs that use Half Court can send texts through it about team fees and fundraisers. We only text numbers a school or club gave us, for people who agreed to hear from them.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop, or HELP for help. You can also write to support@halfcourt.team. We never sell your mobile number or share it for marketing. More on the privacy page.

Athlete photos

An athlete raising for their team may add a photo to their own page. Adding one means the athlete, or the parent operating the page, agrees that Half Court shows it on that page and nowhere else, for as long as the campaign runs.

The athlete, a parent, or the coach can remove it at any time, and it leaves the page at once.

Money

Team fees and fundraiser gifts are paid through Stripe, which handles the card and holds the funds until they pay out to the district, club, or booster account that owns the collection. Half Court is not a bank and does not hold your money. Questions about a charge, including a refund, go to the school or club that collected it, and we help them sort it out.

If you pay or give:

• You see the whole amount before you pay. A team fee carries a service fee on top, which covers the cost of processing the payment and Half Court's share. The team receives the full fee it asked for. On a gift, you choose whether to cover the processing fee and whether to add a donation to Half Court. Both are optional. If you do not cover the processing fee, it comes out of the gift.
• A refund returns everything you paid, the service fee included. The school or club that collected the payment decides on refunds.

If your organization collects money through Half Court:

• Stripe runs the payments. Payment processing for organizations on Half Court is provided by Stripe and is subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (together, the Stripe Services Agreement). By agreeing to these terms or continuing to collect through Half Court, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as Stripe may change it from time to time. As a condition of Half Court enabling payments through Stripe, you agree to give us accurate and complete information about you and your organization, and you authorize us to share it, and transaction information related to your use of Stripe's payment processing, with Stripe.
• You act for the organization. Setting up its Stripe account means you have the authority to do that, and that what you tell Stripe and us is true and stays true.
• Collect only for real things. A fee is for a real team cost your school or club allows. A fundraiser is for what its page says, and the money is spent on that.
• Payouts are Stripe's. Stripe pays out to your organization's bank on its schedule, and can delay or hold a payout while it verifies your account or reviews a payment.
• Refunds and disputes are yours. Your stewards issue refunds. When a bank pulls a payment back, we tell your stewards the hour we hear and help you answer it. A refunded or lost payment comes out of your organization's Stripe balance. If that balance cannot cover it and Half Court pays instead, your organization owes us that amount.
• Taxes are yours. Your organization handles its own taxes and reporting on what it collects. Stripe collects your tax ID because the law requires it. We never see it.
• We can pause payments. We can pause a collection, a fundraiser, or all payments for an organization if these terms are broken, if a payment looks fraudulent, or if Stripe requires it.
• A claim over money you collected is yours to answer, and you cover what comes of it, the same as with a message sent in your name.

A booster club may text under its own registered name instead of Half Court's. This costs $65 plus the carrier fees at cost, invoiced by Half Court. The Finance Steward who registers it confirms the facts are true.

What you may not do

• Use Half Court for anything other than running athletics for the district or club you belong to.
• Look at records of students who are not yours to see. Access is scoped by role, and working around that ends your account.
• Add contacts who did not agree to hear from you, or send anything that is not about the team.
• Try to break in, probe, overload, or scrape the service.
• Hand your login to someone else.

When it ends

A district or club can close any of its accounts at any time, and so can we if these terms are broken. When a district leaves Half Court, its data goes with it and is then deleted, as the privacy page describes. Photos come down with the campaign they were part of. Opt-outs stay, because the person who asked not to be contacted did not leave.

What we promise, and what we do not

We run the service carefully, we keep it up, and we tell districts when something goes wrong. But Half Court shows the district's records. It does not make the district's decisions. Whether a student is cleared to play is the district's call under its own rules, and a status on a screen is not a medical opinion or a legal one.

We provide the service as it is. Our responsibility for any loss is limited to what your district or club paid us for it in the twelve months before the loss. Nothing here limits what the law does not let us limit.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and tell the districts using Half Court before it takes effect.
